Designs & Drawings Checklist

  1. What is the difference between a Designer and an Architect – which do we need?
    • An Architect is a licensed and trained individual who plans, designs and oversees the construction of structure.  They possess technical knowledge, management and understanding of building.  They deal with regulations and building codes.
    • An Designer works on the planning, effective use of space and functional design of a room.  Although an interior designer may create layouts, they do not normally possess the structural knowledge an architect would.
  2. Do you have a Designer that you work with?
    • Contractor’s Corner has two kitchen designers as well we work closely with Tailored Interiors, Shelley Taylor.
  3. How long will it take to complete any drawings?
    • Completing a kitchen layout depends on your availability and the amount of detail we receive from you, as well as your approval or request for changes.  The drawing can be done anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks.
  4. How long will the entire project planning take? How long until my project starts?
    • Depending on the scope of the work, more work, longer time.  A project planning process can take 1 week to 3 weeks.  If there are a lot of materials to be acquired, the project will start when everything has been received to start the project.
  5. Should we assemble a “Wish List”?
    • Yes, make sure you know what you want.  In order to give you your vision it is important for us to know exactly what you want.
